FREYJA Annual Meeting: Moving Forward Together

Reykjavík, Iceland. The University of Iceland hosted the FREYJA Annual Meeting last 21-22 September 2026. The meeting brought together partners from the University of Waikato, Carleton University and Mata Ki Te Rangi Rapa Nui Foundation including Wellcome Trust representative Carleigh Kubiner for two days of productive discussions, knowledge exchange, and collaborative planning.

The meeting provided an important opportunity to reflect on the project’s progress, discuss achievements and ongoing activities, and align priorities for the next 12 months.

Each of the working groups demonstrated encouraging progress across their respective activities, with key tasks advancing as planned and strong momentum towards achieving the project’s objectives. Team members engaged in knowledge sharing and constructive feedback throughout the sessions, resulting in fruitful discussions and concrete points for prioritisation and follow-up. Beyond the formal programme, the meeting also strengthened connections across the consortium and provided valuable opportunities for networking and informal exchanges.

The annual meeting renewed the consortium’s collective commitment to the project and reinforced the importance of keeping its overall aims and objectives at the heart of the work. With renewed momentum, the FREYJA partners look forward to continuing their collaboration and working together towards the successful achievement of the project’s goals.
