FREYJA garners public attention

The research project Fostering Reciprocity in Environmental DNA science through Yielded stewardship, Just benefit, and Accountability (FREYJA) has gained significant attention not only within the academe but also from the Icelandic public for receiving a grant award of nearly 3 million US dollars or around 360 million ISK from Wellcome Trust.

Assistant Professor Hrefna Dögg Gunnarsdóttir officially introduced FREYJA, its objectives and expected outcomes through a public presentation in September 2026 which was also picked up by a local news outlet in Iceland mbl.is.
