Dr Chris Kavelin works alongside Indigenous communities to protect traditional knowledge and strengthen Indigenous governance of medicines and intellectual property. His PhD in Law examined the protection of Indigenous medical knowledge and how legal systems might better engage Indigenous spiritual concerns. His work is grounded in long-standing relationships with Aboriginal, Māori, Pacific and Native American knowledge holders, with particular attention to ensuring that knowledge remains under the authority of the communities from which it comes.
