Sonia Haoa Cardinali is a Rapa Nui archaeologist who has dedicated her career to protecting the natural and cultural heritage of Rapa Nui through scientific research in order to protect Rapa Nui for future generations. She founded the Mata Ki Te Rangi Foundation in 2009 with the aim of connecting Rapa Nui with the rest of the Pacific, and beyond, through scientific research and culture.
To identify and exemplify Indigenous Peoples & Local Communities knowledge related to eDNA research and how institutional systems and processes can enable greater engagement and sustainable relationships.
